DAWSON -- It's not the World's Longest Yard Sale, but a 52-mile long regional yard sale isn't bad either.
Quitman, Randolph and Terrell counties will host a regional yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. along U.S. Highway 82 from Sasser to Georgetown.
The counties joined together to promote the event to encourage tourists to see what Southeast Georgia has to offer.
"People will be set up all along Highway 82," The Terrell County Chamber's Gina Webb said. "The only requirements were permission from the property owners and ample parking. We'll have some established businesses like Knight's and the Sasser Flea Market set up along with many true yard-salers."
There will be yard sales and food vendors set up all along Highway 82 with maps available along the route.
"We've put information in the local papers in mailings and people have been calling the chambers.: Webb said. "The response has been great. We're excited."
The Quitman Development Authority, Randolph County Chamber, Randolph County Family Connection, Terrell Chamber and Terrell County Family Connection have all thrown their weight behind the event.
Other area events will also be taking place Saturday in two communities.
In Dawson, the Terrell County Historic Preservation Society will be having its annual Tour of Homes from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the Dawson United Methodist Church hosting a luncheon.
In Cuthbert, the Fletcher Henderson Jazz Festival will be held at the Iris Gardens beginning at 11 a.m.
And if you were wondering, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, The World's Longest Yard Sale" runs along a 630-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 127 from Gadsden, Ala. to Covington, Ky.
