SYLVESTER. Ga. — The Georgia Department of Transportation is closing some lanes of State Route 313 in Sylvester and in Worth County for resurfacing work.

GDOT Communications Officer Craig Solomon said contractor crews will begin the process of resurfacing the roadway of S.R. 313 Monday and it will continue through Friday.

Crews will be working on S.R. 313 between U.S. 82/ S.R. 520 in Sylvester and S.R. 32 in Worth County.

GDOT officials said that the resurfacing work should not cause motorists any significant delays in travel time, but they are advising travelers to reduce speeds as they go through construction work zones.

Message signs, barrels and cones will be placed on the roadway to alert motorists of upcoming construction changes.

Solomon said the resurfacing of S.R. 313 has been a continuous process.

“This (road resurfacing) has been going on for a while. We were working on it a couple of months ago and now we are going back and continuing the process of improving the roadway,” he said.

GDOT Officials are urging motorist to be cautious of road crews who will be working in close proximity to travel lanes.
