LEESBURG, Ga. -- The Lee County Explorers will hold a car wash Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise funds for 6-year-old Hartwell Faircloth.
Hartwell is receiving weekly chemotherapy treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at MCG Children's Medical Center in Augusta. His condition is complicated by the rare chromosomal condition severe hypodiploid. The current treatments are preparing Hartwell for a planned bone marrow transplant.
The car wash will be held at Lee County Auto Service at 264 Walnut Ave. All donations will go toward treatment and other medical expenses being incurred by Hartwell's parents, Kayla and Jeremy Dollar.
Other fundraisers, including a Hope for Hartwell Benefit concert Aug. 28 at the State Theatre, are being planned for the youngster. Donations are also being accepted through the website hartwelldonations.com.
