Administrative review under way of incident involving APD spokesperson

Albany Police officials are conducting an administrative review of a weekend incident involving police spokesperson and media manager Phyllis Banks-Whitley which led to her arrest on misdemeanor battery charges.

Banks-Whitley was charged Saturday with battery on a minor after Dougherty County Police Department officers said that she hit her daughter in the head with a shoe.

Police reports state that both Banks-Whitley and her daughter, who is 16-years-old, had large scratches and contusions. Banks-Whitley told police that she was attacked by her daughter and hit her with a shoe.
