Herald Top 5 poll
1. Bainbridge (1-0)
The Bearcats jump from preseason No. 2 to No. 1 after top dog Dougherty fell to unranked Albany and Bainbridge survived Early County. Next: Friday vs. Cairo, 7 p.m.
2. Lee County (1-0)
The Trojans were impressive in their debut, racking up 49 points and holding Baconton to 40 yards rushing and 15 passing. Next: Friday vs. Crawford County, 7:30 p.m. p.m.
3. Monroe (1-0)
The Tornadoes' offense looked strong, as did their defense, holding a dangerous Terrell County squad to just 12 points and scored 32. Next: Thursday vs. Northeast Macon, 7 p.m
4. Mitchell County (1-0)
Just as we projected, the Class A Eagles are gonna be good this year as they stormed Hugh Mills Stadium and beat up on Class AAA Westover . Next: Friday vs. Dougherty, 7:30 p.m.
5. Worth County (1-0)
With No. 1 Dougherty dropping completely out of the poll, the Rams enter it after a stunning 32-26, 2OT win against state No. 3 Fitzgerald. Next: Friday at Turner Co. 7:30 p.m.

Player of the Week
Daniel Castaneda, Sr., K, Albany High School
Castaneda might've made just one FG in Week 1 -- but boy was it a big one. His 32-yard boot with 1.3 seconds left beat beat city rival Dougherty for the first time in more than two decades.

Herald's Heisman Watch
*** JOHNNY FOSTER, RB, Randolph-Clay: 102 yards rushing, two TDs, kickoff return 88 yards for 3rd TD in RC's 47-6 win vs. Kendrick.
*** NOEL DEVINE, QB, MONROE: 8-for-20 for 176 yards and four TDs and he also ran for a TD in the Tornadoes' 32-12 win against Terrell County.
*** BRANDON LINZY, LB, BAINBRIDGE: With game tied, 7-7, he picked off an Early County pass with 7.3 seconds left and scored the game-winning TD.
*** CAMERY FLOWERS, RB, EARLY COUNTY: Had 34 rushes for 160 yards, although it ame in a losing effort to Bainbridge, 14-7.
*** JHUE RHODES, RB Worth County: Rhodes scored two TDs, including one in OT as Worth stunned No. 3-ranked Fitzgerald, 32-26, in double overtime.
