One of four nominees for the national football fan poll award, Jennings won by a landslide, receiving 1,210 total votes, 994 more votes than runner-up Octavious Hawkins, the quarterback at Winston-Salem State University.
Malcolm Jenkins, a defensive lineman at Elizabeth City State University, received 41 votes, while David Carter, a running back at Morehouse College, received 35 votes.
