ALBANY, Ga. -- On Wednesday, a group of Hispanics became the victims of a second Dunes Avenue robbery.
Just before 9 p.m. at 1001 Dunes Avenue, Lot 41, officers with the Albany Police Department responded to a robbery. At the scene, Bernado Franco, 34, reported that he had gone outside to ensure his vehicle was secure.
When he did, a man approached him and demanded money. The suspect took money, a cell phone and a wallet from Franco.
After that, the culprit then entered Franco's home and demanded money from Abel Martinez, 64, and Ma Lopez, 57, but did not take anything.
The bandit was described as a black male who was wearing a mask and dark clothing.
This is similar to an incident on Monday night in which a gunman went into a Hispanic family's home on the same block, armed with a semi-automatic handgun. That robber fled the scene on a bicycle with two wallets, cash and a cell phone.
"The two (incidents) do not appear to be connected at this time," said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman with the APD.
Both cases remain under investigation.
