ALBANY, Ga. -- Sherwood Baptist Church will help spread Christmas cheer on Sunday when the church presents a concert by the acclaimed Annie Moses Band during its 6 p.m. evening worship service.
The family band, based in Franklin, Tenn., comprises six Julliard-trained siblings and their songwriting parents and is leading an artistic renaissance in the church through musical excellence. Annie Wolaver is the band's lead singer/violinist, and she is joined by siblings Alex, who plays viola; Benjamin, cello; Camille, harp/keyboards; Gretchen, violin/mandolin; and Jeremiah, guitar/banjo.
Bill and Robin Wolaver, the talented musicians' songwriting parents, complete the Annie Moses Band, whose roots run deep in classical, pop and jazz.
"This is an extremely talented family group," Sherwood's April Brown said. "They've been featured on PBS a number of times, and they put on a great show.
"We invite the public to get into the spirit of the Christmas season by joining us for the concert."
Among the Annie Moses Band's acclaimed musical credits are "Christmas Bright and Beautiful," "Through the Looking Glass," "This Glorious Christmas" and "Christmas With the Annie Moses Band." The band's most recent project is the live CD/DVD release "Pilgrims & Prodigals."
The band was recently featured on a PBS Christmas special, and the documentary "Faith, Family and Music," which featured the group, has been shown on Christian TV networks such as The NRB Network and Daystar Television.
Sunday's concert, which starts at 6 p.m., is free and open to the public. It will be held in the church's Worship Center.
Sherwood is located at 2201 Whispering Pines Road. For information about the concert, call (229) 883-1910.
