TUESDAY'S PREP ROUNDUP: Bainbridge's Gaines commits to Arkansas for football; Terrell Academy splits with Randolph Southern in basketball

BAINBRIDGE -- Bainbridge defensive back Rohan Gaines made a verbal committment to the University of Arkansas after visiting the campus over the weekend.

Gaines will be the third prospect from Bainbridge to sign with Arkansas in recent years, joining Malcolm Sheppard, a defensive end who played for the Razorbacks last season and is now with the Houston Texans, and Arkansas offensive tackle Ray Dominguez, who was Gaines'host on the visit.

Gaines made 60 tackles this season, including four for losses. He also had one interception.



SHELLMAN --The Terrell Academy girls basketball team beat rival Randolph Southern on Monday night, 85-40, to improve to 7-1 for the season.

TAE, which moved up to GISA Class AA this season, is no longer in the same region as Randolph Southern, but the rivalry is still there.

The Lady Eagles were led by Alex Barfield, who scored 26 points, Maura Milliron, who scored 18, and Millie Foster, who scored 15.

Randolph Southern was led by Lexi Fulgham, who scored eight points.

Randolph Southern's boys got 30 points from John Floyd and 22 points from Rhett Ragan to hold off Terrell Academy and Clay Willis, who scored 37 points for the Eagles.

It was the first win of the season for the Randolph Southern boys, who are 1-4.
