ALBANY, Ga. - NewSong will be performing their fourth annual Christmas concert Saturday night in Albany.
NewSong is headlining their national "Very Merry Christmas" tour with fellow Christian musicians Newsboys and emerging Christian vocal artist Kerrie Roberts, and Albany is their next stop.
NewSong has become widely known on a national level over the course of their career, having released 20 No. 1 radio singles. One of the members is Eddie Carswell, formerly of Tifton. The group was organized in the Valdosta area.
Because of their special ties to southwest Georgia, Marie Allen, who is a member of Life Christian Center, said "this show, for the musicians, is a special show because it's like a homecoming for them. Some of the members of NewSong are from this area and they've become like family to us."
She went on to say, "there's always a good turnout for the show. We're very excited about it. It looks like it's gonna be one of the best shows we've ever done."
"The concert is a family event,"Allen said. "We are providing Christian entertainment and a lot of families are making this [concert] a part of their Christmas traditions."
Allen also said the concert will feature a rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy" which will be performed by all of the artists as well as Westover High School's drumline.
The concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. General admission tickets are available at LifeWay Christian Store and at Life Christian Center for $20.
