THOMASVILLE -- Lee County's girls basketball team stayed hot Thursday night, beating Dodge County, 59-44, to win their fourth game in the last five and improve to 7-4 for the season.

Once again DaQuenna Moore led the way with her fifth double-double in as many games since returning to Georgia. Moore, who returned to Lee County from Texas five games ago, scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help lift the Lady Trojans to the victory against Dodge (5-3) in their final game at the Thomasville Holiday Hoopfest.

Chaz Tookes also had a big night, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, but Lee County coach Fran McPherson wanted to talk about the effort of freshman Katherine McConnell, who came off the bench to give the Lady Trojans some savvy and a spark they needed.

"It was a pretty tight game at first,'' said McPherson, whose team broke a 9-9 tie after the first quarter and led 20-13 at halftime. "We had some trouble with their pressure but (McConnell) came in and passed the ball and played real smart. Her passing and smart play made the difference and got us over the hump. She's little but she's smart as a whip.''

The Lady Trojans built the lead to 38-28 after three quarters then coasted home. They meet Westover in Leesburg on Jan. 8 in their next game after the break.
