Albany Tech closes Slappey entrance
Staff Reports
Albany Technical College has permanently closed its South Slappey Boulevard entrance to campus, officials with the college said this morning.
The closure was necessary move to keep construction on track for the College’s Logistics Education Center, a 38,000-square-foot facility that is scheduled to open early next year, Tech officials said.
The only access to the college’s main student parking lot is now from Newton Road. Albany tech faculty and staff members, along with visitors to the Kirkland Administration Building, can access designated parking via Lowe Road.
A new Slappey entrance to the campus is expected to be open by the end of spring quarter, Tech officials said. In the meantime, officials said, Albany police officers will be on hand during peak traffic hours to facilitate traffic flow.
