Assistant-Special-Agent-in-Charge Trebor Randle says that 5-month-old infant K'laysha Holmes was transported to the hospital after being rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital early Monday morning.
Randle described the child's chances for survival as "grim."
"There is an ongoing investigation here, but I can tell you that there were allegations that there could possibly have been neglect or negligence," Randle said.
Deputies arrived at the home at 139 Mayfield Drive around 5 a.m. in reference to a child that wasn't breathing. Upon arrival, Randle says they found a house full of juveniles, K'laysha and her 21-year-old mother, Nakasha Holmes.
"Initial report was that the child was found not breathing and in the bed with the mother," Randle said.
The homeowners were not at the house, she said.
Randle said that charges were likely to be filed in the case and that more information would be known Tuesday.
