Trebor Randle, GBI assistant special-agent-in-charge, confirmed that 5-month-old L'Kaysha Holmes died this morning.
The body is being sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy, which is scheduled to be performed Wednesday.
The baby was sent to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in critical condition after being found unresponsive by paramedics and sheriff's deputies early Monday at 139 Mayfield Drive in Lee County.
Authorities are investigating possible neglect.
