MACON -- Alexis Burke was unstoppable for Bainbridge as she scored a team-high 29 points in the blowout win, 68-31, on Tuesday against Upson-Lee in the Region 1-AAAA Tournament quarterfinals.

"(Burke) played well," began Bainbridge head coach Latreisha Moon, "(but) overall I was pleased with the team."

Namely Bria Harris, who had a big night for Herald No. 1 Bainbridge as well with 16 points, while April Thomas added 12 points in the win. The win improves the Lady Bearcats' already impressive record to 26-2 overall, while also advancing them to the semifinals against Lee County on Friday.

LEE COUNTY GIRLS 60, JONES COUNTY 58, OT:

After rolling her ankle earlier in the contest, Lee County senior Lindsey Crawford banked in a game-winning jumper at the buzzer to lead Lee County to an overtime win Tuesday against Jones County in the first round of the GHSA Region 1-AAAA Tournament.

"I had never hit a shot like that before," said Crawford, who led her team with 21 points. "I actually thought the buzzer had already gone off before I let my shot go."

In the overtime period, Lee County had possession of the ball and a three-point lead with 33.8 seconds left, but a turnover led to Trenecia Standifer's game-tying 3-pointer. Lee County then called timeout, setting up Crawford's dramatic finish.

PELHAM BOYS 80, ECHOLS 38:

Lester Moore and Henry Crimley scored 15 points apiece in the blowout win for Pelham.

"We came and played well," Pelham head coach Warren Roberts said.

Pelham now moves into the semifinals of the Region 1-A tournament with the win.

"It's a new season and everybody is on equal footing," Roberts said. "We played a pretty tough schedule and I hope its pays off."

Pelham's semifinal game is on Thursday against Lanier.

MILLER BOYS 78, IRWIN 30:

Zenario Shuler's six first-half 3s paved the way for a rare blowout win for Miller County.

"Our team came out with a lot of emotion," said Miller head coach Tim Martin. "(We knew it was) win or go home!"

Miller advances them to the semifinals of the Region 1-A tournament. Will Martin led the scoring with 18 points.

BACON COUNTY BOYS 66, SEMINOLE 55:

Terrence Jones scored a game-high 25 points but that was not enough to help Seminole County advance past Bacon County.

The game was close early and at halftime only one point separated the two teams. But in the second half, Bacon scored the first six points of the game and it was a game of catch-up for Seminole for the rest of the game. "

That was the story of our season-- slow start in the second half," said Seminole head coach Kevin Godwin, whose team finished the season with a 5-13 overall record.

RANDOLPH-CLAY BOYS 60, CLINCH COUNTY 54:

The Red Devils assured their season would last at least one more game thanks to big nights from Timothy Stringer (20 points) and Zuriel Muhummad (14).

Randolph-Clay advances to play Calhoun County in Thursday in Dawson in the Region 1-A semifinals at 5:30 p.m.

CALHOUN COUNTY BOYS 86, WARE MAGNET 40:

The Cougars had five players score in double figures, including a game-high 22 points from DeShawn Jordan, followed by Andre Carroll (14), Knyhiah Zackery (12), Raishun Anderson (11) and Marquez Williams (10).

WESTSIDE, MACON GIRLS 63, AMERICUS-SUMTER 51:

A slow start couldn't keep Westside from advancing easily to the semifinals of the Region 1-AAAA tournament. Westside never allowed Americus-Sumter back in the game after that, building a 20-point lead early in the third quarter.

The Seminoles opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run.
