The Patriots proved they are the No. 1 team by beating Monroe, 80-61, for the region crown. Westover has won the last two meetings by a combined 33 points. Next: Vs. TBA
2.) Monroe .........................................................24-2
The Tornadoes may get one more chance to beat Westover (if both meet for the state title), but for now there's no argument about who won the city rivalry. Next: Vs. TBA
3.) Bainbridge......................................................24-4
The Bearcats are the hottest team in the area and enter the AAAA state tournament as region champs with a 17-game winning streak. Next: vs. Ola, Friday, 7 p.m.
4.) Terrell County................................................21-5
The Greenwave should move up in the state poll after beating fifth-ranked Lanier, 56-55, to win their fourth region title in a row. Next: Vs. Hancock Central, Friday, 6 p.m.
5.) Deerfield-Windsor..........................................27-1
There's only one chapter left for the Knights, who are making their fifth straight trip to the Final Four -- win their first state title since 2002-03. Next: Vs. George Walton, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
GIRLS
1.) Bainbridge........................................................24-3
The Lady Bearcats were shocked by Lee County in the Region 1-AAAA semifinals, but enter the state tournament with a chance to win it all.. Next: At Forest Park, Saturday, 4 p.m.
2.) Randolph-Clay............... ....................................24-3
The Lady Red Devils have won 11 in a row, and have outscored their last four opponents, 301-105, including an 80-33, Region 1-A title win. Next: Vs. Hancock Central, Saturday, 6 p.m.
3.) Westover.............................................................23-3
The Lady Patriots won the region title by beating Peach County twice in the same week, and haven't lost since Jan. 15, reeling off 12 in a row. Next:TBA
4.) Lee County..........................................................20-8
Lee shocked Bainbridge and played in the region finals for the first time in anyone's memory, and is a dangerous threat to reach the Final Four. Next: Vs. Alcovy, 6 p.m. Saturday.
5.) Mitchell County.....................................................19-7
The Tiona Burley-led Lady Eagles move into the Top 5 after finishing second in Region 1-AA. After starting the season at 1-4, Mitchell has gone 18-3. Next: Vs. Putnam County, Saturday, 6 p.m.
