ALBANY -- In just its third year as a men's basketball program, Albany Tech continues to make strides.
After placing no players on the Region XVII All-Region Team in Year 1, and then just one in Year 2, the Titans hit a milestone Saturday when it was announced that two players had earned the honor this season.
Former Monroe star Wilbur Lake (12 points a game average, including 70 3-pointers) and teammate and former Westover star Dominique Polite (12 points, 9.9 rebounds a game) both were named to the team.
"Wilbur and Dominique both had great seasons and I'm proud of them. Pus, I think it's important to point out that both these kids played here locally and went on to great things at Albany Tech," Titans coach Sylvester Patterson said. "It shows you can stay at home and be successful."
The Titans, who recently wrapped their regular season and earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, will open the Region XVII event Tuesday at 7 p.m. at home against South Georgia Tech.
The game will be played at Albany State. Admission is $5.
