DAMASCUS -- Local hoops teams had been on break during the holidays but action resumed Monday with the first game of 2010 when the Byne Christian girls basketball team downed SGA, 57-32, while the late game between the boys fell in the Warriors' favor as SGA rolled, 56-41.
Leading the way for the Lady Saints in their game were four players in double figures: Heather Horne and Katie Phillips, both of whom led all scorers with 15 points each. Trellie Padgett added 13, while Hannah Hughes scored 10.
SGA was led by Kyndal Andrews' 12 points.
For the Boys, Parker Adams led SGA with 14, followed by Andrew Stone and Danny Doster both dropped in 12.
Kasey Sanders led Byne with a game-high of 14 and Josh Hughes added 10, but it wasn't enough to stop from the Warriors (3-6) from picking up their third win of the year.
SGA now gets set for its region opener today against Valwood.
