Museum holds 2nd Saturday

ALBANY -- The Albany Museum of Art will host its Second Saturday Family Workshop this weekend.

The free event will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the museum, located at 311 Meadowlark Drive.

With the theme "Laissez Les Bon Ton Rouler: Let the Good Times Roll," Saturday's workshop celebrates Mardi Gras with a New Orlean's flair. Participants will create their own Mardi Gras float.

"Girls, bring your Barbie doll, and boys, bring your action figure," a news release states. "Learn about the history of Mardi Gras, the customs and enjoy New Orleans music."

Muskogee Creek history seminar

WHIGHAM -- The Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe will host a seminar on Muskogee Creek history Saturday.

The seninar will take place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Tama Tribal Town on Collins Road in Whigham.

Cost is $20 and includes educationa materials and lunch.

The seminar will include such topics as history, myths, legends, geneology and aspects of daily living of the Muskogee Creek and how the Muskogee survived in Southwest Georgia after the Trail of Tears.

"There will also be on display examples of Muskogee clothing and crafts, along with various tools and weapons," a news release states.

Diabetic eye care focus of lunch

ALBANY -- The Dougherty County Health Department will host a Lunch and Learn event focusing on eye care for the diabetic.

The event is scheduled for noon-1 p.m. today in the education center of the Health Department, located at 1710 South Slappey Blvd.
