An elderly woman died after firefighters fought to rescue her from a 1:51 p.m. smoke-filled house that was on fire at 2800 Radium Springs Road.
An unconscious Audry Batey was found behind the middle bedroom door by firefighters.
Firefighters took the woman out of the home placed her on the lawn and emergency personnel administered CPR to no avail. The cause of death has not been determined.
