Byne Christian School's Kasey Sanders also plays in the junior-varsity team.

No matter.

He still scored a varsity team-high 23 points during the Saints' 61-52 win Saturday against Crisp Academy.

Sanders also made three 3-pointers.

"He played well," said Saints coach Jonathan Dyal, whose team's record is 4-8. "He was all over the court, scoring on fast-break opportunities. On one play, he was driving on a fast break and the defender tried to set up a charge. Instead, he pulled up and shot the 3."

Josh Hughes also was on double figures for Byne with 16 points, followed by Mike Gonzalez with 11.

The Deerfield-Windsor wrestling team competed in a Trinity Christian meet Saturday, and Chandler Lane was second in the 119-pound division.

"He wrestled well and is just a sophomroe," Deerfield coach Scott Horton said. "He wrestled against a really experienced athlete in the final, and this was his first trip to the final in a tournament."

The Knights' Mac Lanier was third at 135 and Gaughf Ivey was fifth at 145.

"We don't have a senior, and Mac Lanier is our leader," Horton said. "We're just learning every day and getting better every day. We had 13 wrestlers last year and have 17 this year."

Meanwhile, Southland's Ethan Smith won at 160 and Bo Minor at 285.

"They're both great wrestlers," Horton said. "They have been through the wars and have mat time on their side. They are really technical wrestlers and did great jobs Saturday. They have a great program over there, and hopefully one day we can get up to their level."
