Anthony Bridges, 30, of Dawson, has surrendered to authorities this afternoon. Dawson police had been searching for Bridges, who was wanted on child molestation and probation violation charges.
Dawson police officials said Bridges came to the police department about 1:30 p.m. today, but refused to give a statement, saying he was waiting for legal counsel.
Officials say Bridges is being held today in the Terrell County Jail on the charges.
Dawson police began searching for bridges after he failed to show up Monday at the police station. Police said Tuesday that they believed he was in Randolph County, possibly in Cuthbert. Bridges' photo and description were posted by media, including on the albanyherald.com Web site.
"The Dawson Police Department would like to thank all the media outlets who assisted us in publicizing this case," Police Chief Charlie Whitehead said this afternoon.
