ALBANY -- A city man is dead and four suspects are in jail charged with his murder.
Dominic Lamar King, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the chest at about 11:15 p.m. Friday, Albany Police Department reports stated. The shooting took place at 1910 Meadow Drive, according to reports.
Less than 10 hours later police arrested suspects.
"This was a great example of the cooperation between the uniform officers and the robbery homicide investigators," Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman said.
The following three suspects are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and criminal damage to property are:
- Lekeisha Rhonecia White, 19.
- Eugene Derrick Bell Jr., 19.
- Tavaress Sinqunce Jackson 22.
The fourth suspect, Kendrick Lewis Sanders, 19, is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
All four were in Dougherty County jail by Saturday night, a jail spokesman said. A photo of Bell was not immediately available, he added.
Questions about whether the murder was gang related, the type of gun used and who did the actual shooting remained part of the investigation and could not be made public Saturday, Banks said.
Police continue to search for leads in at least three open murder investigations, officials said.
Gayle Jackson, Bobby Lee Clay-Minor and Yolanda Roundtree were all killed in 2009. No arrests have been made.
All three were killed in November. Roundtree was stabbed to death at her Wild Pines Apartment in East Albany.
Clay-Minor was shot to death on the 400 block of Alice Avenue. Jackson was found dead near a dumpster on Whitney Avenue.
