ALBANY -- Albany Police are searching for two vehicles that were involved in a fatal hit-and-run Saturday night.
Investigators said Roosevelt Coley, 66, was crossing Oglethorpe Boulevard at Jefferson Street around 8 p.m Saturday when he was hit by two vehicles.
Albany Police Department spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said the impact from both vehicles killed Coley instantly.
"He died at the scene," she said.
Police said both drivers immediately fled the scene, and witnesses called 911.
"We are currently searching for both drivers," Banks said Monday afternoon. "The traffic unit has narrowed down the description of one of the vehicles."
The traffic unit was able to determine that a '94 to '97 Toyota Corolla, burgundy or red in color, was involved in the accident.
"The car will have damage to the passenger side mirror," said Banks.
Investigators said they are still unclear on the description of the second vehicle that hit Coley.
"The second vehicle is believed to be an SUV, possibly a Mercury Mountaineer or Ford Explorer," Banks said.
APD encouraged anyone with information about this incident or the vehicles to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8177).
