ALBANY -- Two vehicles hit a 66-year-old man as he walked across Oglethorpe Boulevard at about 8 p.m. Saturday. The drivers drove away, leaving him dead, Albany Police Department officials said.
Police are throwing a wide net to catch the drivers who ran over and killed Albany's Roosevelt Coley.
The reported make and model of the vehicles involved vary, but police want residents to watch out for all of the described vehicles.
Police would like residents to add red or burgundy 1992 to 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88s and 1991 to 1997 Oldsmobile Regency 98s to the list of vehicles possibly involved in the fatal crash, a police e-mail stated.
"If you see these cars, call the police," said police spokeswoman Phyllis Banks.
The most recent descriptions join the police lookout for a red or burgundy 1994 to 1997 Toyota Corolla with damage to the side mirror. Another vehicle to watch for is a Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer, both SUVs, said police Sgt. William Dowdell.
Police would also like auto body shops and salvage yards to watch out for anyone with damage to a described vehicle or shopping for a driver's side rearview mirror, Dowdell said.
Anyone with additional information should call Albany police at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or (229) 431-3288.
