CORDELE — Dallis Smith sighed and quietly reported the score against Crisp County on Friday.
“68-58,” he said.
Westover won?
“No,” he replied, “we lost — and we didn’t come to play,”
Smith said he could tell in warmups his team was “over confident” after beating Crisp by 30 earlier this year.
“I’ve never seen my team look like this before,” said the coach of The Herald’s No. 2-ranked boys team, which lost for just the second time this year. “We never turned the switch on. Just out-played and out-hustled.”
Anthony Ball led Westover with 15, followed by Chris Wheeler with 12.
