ALBANY -- The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce will kick off its year-long celebration Tuesday, when it welcome's its members to their annual event at the Albany Civic Center, officials say.
Each year the chamber holds its annual event, but Chamber President Katherine Glover told members of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission that the 2010 event will be unique as it will commemorate the Chamber's 100th year in existence.
"This year is one that will be a special one for us because it marks our 100th year," Glover said. "So to get it started right, we're doing some special things with our annual event."
The event will feature a cocktail reception and business exhibits at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a special program at 6:45 p.m., before being capped by the music of "Reflections," featuring Karla Heath-Sands beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Reservations are required and can be made at the chamber's Website at www.albanyga.com. Tickets are $75 before the event or $85 at the door for individuals or a table of eight for $500.
Opening its doors in 1910, the Albany-Area Chamber of Commerce has positioned itself as the voice for local businesses by promoting economic growth, business development, tourism and legislative policy. In 2007, the chamber earned 5-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce putting it among the top 44 of the nation's 7,000 chambers of commerce.
