Developer and business man Bob Brooks was requesting the special approval that would allow Riverfront Barbecue to move a smaller, mobile version of their downtown restaurant to 1016 North Westover Boulevard in an abandoned parking lot near the mall.

The restaurant had already planned the moved when they learned they had to get a special permit operate the kitchen from the city commission.

Tuesday’s vote incorporated a friendly amendment to allow the operators of the kitchen to stay open until 6 p.m. to accommodate the afternoon rush.
