ALBANY, Ga. -- The thefts of four vehicles from different locations Wednesday night do not necessarily add up to a car theft ring, an Albany Police Department official said.
"All of the cases remain under investigation," said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. "Detectives have not yet determined if they are connected or if the incidents are gang related."
At David Smith Autoland car dealership, thieves apparently broke into 16 vehicles ranging from BMWs to KIAs until they found a 1997 Buick Park Avenue to steal, a police report stated.
The thieves cut through a chain-link fence and gate surrounding the dealership on the 700 block of Oglethorpe Boulevard to steal the car, the report added.
The cars stolen in other areas of the city were: A 1999 Cadillac Deville from the 200 block of Tift Avenue, a 2004 Ford F-150 from the 900 block of Willowood Drive and a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer from the 2400 block of Dawson Road.
Anyone with additional information on the thefts should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or investigations at (229) 431-3288. The Spanish speak
