ALBANY, Ga. -- After an argument about money, a man was shot from a car about 11 p.m. Monday by a man armed with a shotgun, an Albany Police Department report states.
John Brookens III, no age available, left an argument over $800 with Malachi R. Bell, 20, to walk between Nottingham Apartments and the Village Green Shopping Center, the report stated.
Bell drove up in a white Ford Explorer and shot Brookens in the left hand with a shotgun, the report stated.
"After the shooting, the victim (Brookens) fled to Charley B's for help," APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. "The victim was transported to the hospital."
Bell was taken to the Dougherty County Jail and charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, a jail spokeswoman said. No bail was set on the aggravated assault charge and $1,000 bail was set for the possession charge, she added.
No additional information was immediately available from the police, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital or Palmyra Medical Center.
