No charges filed in dog’s death

ALBANY, Ga. — Authorities said today that no one has been charged in last week’s death of a dog that was chained in a yard without water, shade or food during the heat wave.

Police reports of the incident indicate that the dog was tied with a chain in the yard of a residence on the 1900 block of Cobblestone Court on June 8 when temperatures soared into the high 90s.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed on the dog by a local veterinarian. APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said today that the autopsy results have not been received yet and that the investigation is active.

Police have not released the name of the dog’s owner.
