ALBANY, Ga.– Flames reaching 50 feet high ripped through the stored wood and reduced the Albany Pallet Exchange to rubble at about 8:55 p.m. tonight.

There were no injuries reported as Albany Fire Department firefighters began the night long process of extinguishing hot spots at the 1509 Rodgers Street location.

The cause of the fire remained unknown as the fire was declared under control at 9:45 p.m, said Fire Chief James Carswell.

The estimated 16,000-square-foot concrete-block building that served as a pallet manufacuring plant was destroyed.
