Husband rescues wife from pool

ALBANY, Ga. -- Responding to his son's cries, an Albany man rescued his wife from drowning in their apartment complex pool at about 7 p.m. Monday

The Hollar family always swims together as a family, said Mikel Hollar. It paid off in a big way for his wife Angel Monday night.

"My wife has suffered from epileptic seizures since she was 12 years old," Hollar said. "I was on my way to get drinks for us when I heard my son yelling."

Angel Hollar had a seizure while at the Country Place Apartments pool at 4000 Gillionville Road, a police report stated. She fell into the pool, police said.

Mikel Hollar said he heard his son yelling that his mother was in the pool. He raced to the pool and jumped in, he said.

"She had stopped flailing around and was face down in the water," Hollar said. "I turned her over, got her out of the pool and did CPR and she revived."

Dougherty County EMS personnel took Angel Hollar to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where she was released at about 11:30 p.m., Mikel Hollar said.

"It can all happen in a second," Hollar said. "That is why we always swim as a family. My son was upset, but he's getting along fine now."
