ADDU busts marijuana distribution duo in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. -- An early morning raid at an Albany home results in the arrest of two suspects for drug distribution and the confiscation of about a pound of marijuana and $1,300 in cash, said a law enforcement official.

Police placed Mark Douglas Marietta Jr., 22, and Kevin Michael Ciciora, 20, under arrest for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, said Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit Maj. Bill Berry.

Ciciora remained in jail Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $5,000 bond, said a Dougherty County jail spokeswoman. Marietta was released on $5,000 bond, she added.

"The case was initiated by the Lee County Sheriff's Office," Berry said. "They called us about it and it was a multi-agency operation with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and GBI in the raid."

Authorities raided a rented home on the 1900 block of Lullwater Road in Northwest Albany at about 2 a.m., Berry said. Once they broke through the door, authorities found the room permeated with marijuana smoke from Marietta and Ciciora smoking it, he added.

"There was no resistance. There were no guns on the premises," Berry said. "We confiscated a lot of drug paraphernalia. At least one Bong, scales and the marijuana was all packaged in bags for distribution. The marijuana we recovered is of a high-grade, hydroponically grown kind."
