APD: Tip paid off; man located for questioning

ALBANY, Ga. -- Within a day of asking the community to help, police nabbed a man wanted for questioning, said an Albany Police Department official.

Denzel Ford, 18, was wanted for questioning in connection with a Dec. 10 armed robbery of National Package Store, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. Acting on a tip, officers found him at 4:40 p.m.

Wednesday in an abandoned house on the 300 block of Barton Drive, she added.

"He was wanted for questioning, but he was arrested on criminal trespass for being in the house," Banks said. "He did not resist arrest. There were no weapons or drugs found when officers arrested Ford."

Ford is in Dougherty County jail, with no bond set, a jail spokeswoman said.

The police would like community help in locating Michael Jones, 18, the report added. He remains wanted for questioning in the National Package Store robbery.
