LEESBURG — It’s called Next Level Baseball, and the idea is to hold camps to teach the fundamentals of the game to youngsters.

The camps were started by two Milwaukee Brewers scouts, Ryan Robinson and Doug Reynolds, who are bringing a camp to Southwest Georgia this weekend.

The camp will be held in baseball-rich Leesburg on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day at the Leesburg Park Street Complex, located at 166 Park St.

The camp will be run by former college and professional players, who will conduct drills and learning techniques to players from the age of 7 through 13. The cost is $150.

“We have been doing these camps for the past seven years,” said former Florida State player Brandon Reichert, who is the vice president of the company and also one of the instructors. “We have lots of former Seminoles and former pro players who help us out. Leesburg’s Buster Posey has helped us out a couple of times in the offseason.”

Posey is busy these days wrecking big league pitching for the San Francisco Giants and making a case for winning the Rookie of the Year award. Reichert did have a release from Posey that read: “Next Level baseball gives athletes of all ages the unique opportunity to learn from coaches with collegiate and professional backgrounds.”

The camps started in Tallahassee, Fla., but this is the first camp to be held in Southwest Georgia.

“We’ve had success with the camps and decided to do one here,” Reichert said. “We do drills in the morning, and then we have games in the afternoon.”
