ALBANY, Ga. -- The Dougherty County Police Department has announced the arrest of an Atlanta man who they say was trying to meet with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
The "14-year-old" turned out to be one of the department's detectives who operate the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Undercover Chat program. The program is used by local law enforcement to investigate offenders who use the Internet to sexually exploit children.
Police say Bryan Stern, 29, was arrested by U.S. marshals Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta and DCPD are waiting for Stern's transfer from Atlanta to Dougherty County, where he will be jailed on the charges.
Stern has been charged with sexual exploitation of children and obscene Internet contact with a child.
