ALBANY, Ga. -- Heather Lanier has been named chief assistant district attorney for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit by District Attorney Greg Edwards.
Edwards made the announcement moments ago at a news conference at the judicial building.
Lanier, Assistant District Attorney Matthew Breedon and investigator Jason Armstrong have comprised the office's Organized Crime Unit, which has put more than 50 gang members in prison since it formed about three years ago.
Lanier, 30, replaces former chief assistant DA Chris Cohilas, who left the job in late April to enter private practice. Cohilas had served in that position since 2008.
