Annual J.L. Litman hoops tourney happens this weekend at Darton

ALBANY -- The 6th annual J. L. Litman Women's Basketball Shootout begins today at 9 a.m. at Darton, where 11 teams will compete in the two-day tournament that features college and semi-pro players from Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. The championship game will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday

Macon's Finest is the defending champ and teams from as far away as Jacksonville, Orlando and Fort Bragg (N.C.) will compete in the tournament that features two teams from Atlanta and three teams from Albany, including the host team, the J.L. Litman Lady Undertakers.

The Lady Undertakers are led by Darton's Dominique Gilbert and former Albany State star Pam Butler. The tournament is sponsored by the J.L. Litman Memorial Funeral Home, and coordinated by Fred Pickett and Johnny Litman.

The tournament is free to the public.
