ALBANY, Ga. -- Officials with the Albany Police Department are currently seeking additional information regarding a shooting that took place in the early morning hours Monday.
The incident occurred just after midnight at 215 Morningside Drive. Victims included Juan Gaspar, 47, Magdalena Gaspar, 29, Marcia Garcia, 28, and Diego Bartolome, 32. A female juvenile, 2, and two male juveniles, ages 8 and 8 months, were also at the scene.
The victims told police that while they were sleeping, three unknown black males kicked open the back door and entered their residence. Juan Gaspar attempted to scare the suspects off with a knife but was shot in the abdomen by one of the suspects. The suspects fled the scene after Garcia activated a car alarm.
"At this time, no arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation," said Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for the APD.
Juan Gaspar was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment.
He was listed in good condition at 1 p.m. Monday.
