ATHENS -- Georgia golfers Russell Henley and Hudson Swafford each advanced to the U.S. Open on Monday from sectional qualifying tournaments.
The U.S. Open will be held June 17-20 in Pebble Beach, Calif.
"I am so proud of those guys," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "Russell and Hudson work so hard, and it's nice to see that hard work rewarded with something like this."
Henley, a rising senior from Macon who is the No. 1-ranked player in the nation and was recently named a First-Team All-American, posted rounds of 73-64 to take medalist honors at Ansley Golf Club in Roswell.
Swafford, a rising senior from Tallahassee, Fla., claimed co-medalist honors in Memphis, Tenn., at the Germantown and Ridgeway Country Clubs. Swafford shots rounds of 67-65 to share the top spot.
