ALBANY, Ga. -- Former Albany State University executive Joshua Murfree started his new job as Dougherty County School System's 14th superintendent since 1885 this morning at the school system's Administration Building.
Retiring nine-year Superintendent Sally Whatley hosted a welcome reception for Murfree and he later attended a training meeting for assistant principals about personnel issues and staffing methods.
Murfree was unavailable for comment about his first day, DCSS Public Information Director R.D. Harter said. Harter said that Murfree planned to meet with media outlets next week, either individually or as a group.
