ALBANY, Ga. -- A 78-year-old Alzheimer's disease patient had thousands of dollars stolen from her by an Albany woman, Albany Police Department officials say.
Santennial Elaine Harris, 34, with a last known address of 1408 Colquitt Ave., is wanted in connection with the illegal use of 15 checks written for several thousand dollars on the Lee County woman's account, the report added.
"The checks were cashed at an Albany bank," said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. "Harris is wanted for forgery in the first degree."
Police have also announced an anonymous donor doubled the original reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of thieves involved in the thefts at the Tower Medical Group sometime between April 29 and May 4.
The thieves got away with laptop computers, a wheelchair and petty cash worth $13,000 from the 2709 Meredith Drive offices.
Anyone with additional information in these cases should call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or investigations at (229) 431-3288. The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.
