No wait ... it's just Robbie Knievel, soaring over $1 million worth of luxury power boats at the famed lake at Wild Adventures on his motorcycle.
That'll be the scene July 3 in Valdosta when Knievel, the world's most famous daredevil -- who has followed in the footsteps of his even more-famous father, Evel Knievel -- performs the first-ever stunt of its kind in South Georgia to highlight a weekend of July 4 festivities at the theme park. The stunt is also the first to ever be attempted at a theme park in the United States.
"The July 3 stunt will be the first time a stuntman has ever attempted to take off on water and land on water in the same stunt," Micha Hogan, Public Relations Coordinator for Wild Adventures, said in an e-mail to The Herald. "We will begin building barges, to float his ramps on the lake for the stunt, next week."
Knievel's most recent stunt he completed took place at Texas Motor Speedway two weeks ago. There, he cleared a line of police cars and ambulances spanning 200 feet before that night's IndyCar Series race.
Knievel has successfully completed every jump his father attempted with the exception of two: the bus-jumping record set by Evel at Wembley Stadium in 1975 and the Snake River Canyon jump in 1974.
The bus jump is in negotiations, and plans are also under way for the 2010 Snake River Canyon jump.
