ALBANY -- John Wright of Leesburg came back to beat Tinsley Dozier of Albany to win the men's 4.5 singles title Sunday to put the final touch to the 8th annual Stonebridge Open tennis tournament, Albany's biggest amateur tennis event each year.
The two-day event ended with Wright having to go to a tiebreaker to beat Dozier, 6-7, 6-2 and finally 1-0 as he won the 10-point tiebreaker.
There were two other singles titles Sunday: Albany's Nathan Davis needed just two sets to beat Brian Bellamy of Thomasville, 6-4, 6-1, to win the men's 4.0 title, and Mallory Swearingen of Leesburg defeated Carol Harrison of Pelham, 6-1, 6-1, to win the women's 3.5 title.
Grey Wells and David Wells of Buena Vista (Ga.) beat Curt Anthony of Albany and Stephen Pinnell of Americus when Anthony and Pinnell retired to win the men's 4.5 doubles.
Madison Dunnaway and Heath Hutto of Pelham beat Mark Dukes and Mike Wright of Albany, 6-3, 7-6, to win the men's 4.0 doubles title.
Dixie McDaniel and Lisa Robinson of Albany beat Karen Ho and Connie Lawson of Albany, 6-4, 7-6, to win the women's 4.5 doubles.
Christy Rustin and Nita Spann of Buena Vista (Ga.) beat Carol Bassett and Julie Sizemore of Buena Vista, 6-4, 7-6, to win the women's 3.5 doubles in straight sets in the all-Buena Vista final.
Colby Rustin and his wife Christy Rustin of Buena Vista won the 8.0 mixed doubles title, beating Randy Barnes and Dixie McDaniel of Albany, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0.
Robert Newsome and Sarah Kitchen of Albany defeated Carol Harrison and John Chambers of Pelham to win the 7.0 mixed doubles title, 6-3, 6-2.
Three champions were crowned on Saturday as the two-day event held 12 championship matches.
