ALBANY, Ga. -- The body of an unidentified woman was discovered around noon Monday at a local motel.
Phyllis Banks, spokesperson for the Albany Police Department, said the department was called in to investigate after management from Regency Inn discovered a body in a room at approximately 12:05 p.m.
At the hotel Monday afternoon, a cruiser from the Albany Police Department, an ambulance and an APD crime scene unit vehicle could be seen in the Regency Inn parking lot.
Banks said details are few at the moment, but the case is being investigated by detectives with Criminal Investigations Bureau's Robbery/Homicide unit.
The body of the woman, who was described as a white female with an undetermined age, was found in room 217 at the Regency Inn located on the 900 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard. Banks confirmed the woman did not rent the room.
An autopsy is scheduled.
Police said Monday further details about the incident will be released once additional information, including the woman's identity, is confirmed.
