Police/Fire/EMS - June 23, 2010

ALBANY, Ga. -- Albany police responded to at least 61 incidents Monday into the early hours of Tuesday, according to available police reports. Police responded to incidents including:

-- Cindy Gilbert, 43, of Sumner has been identified as the dead woman found Monday at the Regency Inn on the 900 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard, a police report stated. Gilbert's body will be taken to the crime lab in Macon for an autopsy;

-- Burglary on the 1100 West Gordon Avenue, the 1000 block of North Slappey Boulevard, the 2300 block of West Gordon Avenue, the 700 block of West Harding Street, the 2800 block of Winterwood Drive and the 1900 block of Schley Avenue;

-- Deceased 84-year-old woman on the 600 block of Zackery Avenue;

-- Recovered property, ammunition found on the 2600 block of Partridge Drive;

-- Terroristic threats and acts on the 500 block of Adam Avenue;

-- Dog hit by vehicle that left the scene on the 500 block of Vick Street;

-- Felony theft by taking on the 400 block of Highland Avenue;

-- Felony theft by taking a 9mm handgun from a vehicle on the 1200 block of North Slappey Boulevard;

-- Dog bite on the 300 block of North Valencia Drive, the 1400 block of Westcliff Court and the 600 block of North Cleveland Street;

-- Cat bite on Dobbs Drive;

-- Entering auto on the 2700 block of Westgate Drive;

-- Domestic (unfounded) on the 500 block of Seventh Avenue, the 2700 block of Homewood Court, the 2500 block of Nottingham Way, the 900 block of Dorsett Avenue, the 800 block of West Mercer Avenue, the 600 block of West Garden Avenue, the 600 West Gordon Avenue, the 500 block of South Cleveland Street, the 2300 block of Garden Avenue, the 300 block of South Davis Street, the 600 block of Jeffries Avenue and the 2000 block of East Broad Avenue;

-- Assault (domestic violence) on the 500 block of Swift Street and the 800 block of Faulk Lane;

-- Simple battery, criminal trespass (domestic violence) on the 2300 block of of North Slappey Boulevard.


Dougherty County police responded to at least 14 calls, according to police reports.

Police responded to incidents including:

-- Theft by shoplifting on the 2200 block of Liberty Expressway;

-- Traffic arrest on the 2200 block of Oakhaven Drive.


Albany firefighters responded to 30 calls including:

-- Two power line down calls, two fire safety programs, six activated alarms, unattended cooking started a fire that caused $7,500 in damages, three other unattended cooking calls, a balcony fire, three vehicle fires, three stove element fires, a rag under the stove elements smoldering, a grass fire, two trash fires, a trash bin fire, an outside power box arcing and two medical assists.
