Jury finds Wise guilty of murder

ALBANY, Ga. — Tiffany Wise, 34, has been found guilty of the murder of 88-year-old Mattie Mabel Berry.
After approximately two hours of deliberation, a jury of nine women and three men found Wise guilty of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault for the beating death of Berry that occurred on May 3, 2009.
A sentencing hearing for Wise is tentatively scheduled for June 30.
Leisa Terry, Wise’s defense counsel, said they will be asking for a sentence of life with parole.
The prosecution, led by Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards, said the state will be asking for a life sentence without parole.
