MACON — How can this be?

After chopping down all but one of the giants in Class A this season, the seemingly can’t-lose 2009-10 campaign of the Terrell County Greenwave came crashing down Wednesday afternoon at the hands of Whitefield Academy, 72-68, in overtime.

Whitefield was the defending Class A state champ.

The Greenwave fell behing by six points, 34-28, at halftime, but Alre’k Brown — Terrell’s only senior starter — brought the team back with six blocks in the third quarter alone. The score was tied, 59-59, going into overtime.

Terrell County had to beat previously unbeaten No. 1 Wilkinson County to reach the Final Four, and before that beat state No. 3 Greenville in Dawson.
