Determined to keep the interests of MCLB Albany as a priority, the EDC voted today to research creating a possible subcommittee devoted to MCLB issues and support.
The idea is to create a subcommittee under the EDC board of directors that would work closely with the Maintenance Center and the USMC's Logistic's Command headquartered at the base to ensure their needs are being met while expanding efforts to promote economic development locally in the defense sector, EDC President Ted Clem said.
The subcommittee would resemble a smaller version of the Alliance for Progress, a group who rallied behind the MCLB and aided in lobbying efforts to try and keep the base and its components off the Base Realignment and Closure list, or BRAC, several years ago.
